3 months experience working in a production nursery. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Physical requirements also include lifting, bending, walking, carrying, and pushing. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to random drug testing at no cost to the employee. All drug testing will occur after the worker begins his or her employment and is not a part of the interview process. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.


Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:

Nursery Worker will perform various basic nursery activities associated with sowing and pruning of trees and perennial plants. Participate in the planting process performing duties, such as laying out trees, shoveling soil and hand straightening trees. Participate in the digging process, including trying up plants, sewing burlap and hand digging. Perform weed control by hand weeding and hoeing. Water plants in the field and containers as needed. General pruning. The workers will aid in soil preparation, including removing weeds and debris from fields. Cultivate fields and prepare for planning. Spray, monitor, trim and discard plants. Housing is provided at no cost to workers who are not reasonably able to return the same day to their place of residence. Housing is not provided to non-workers. Workers will buy and prepare own food. Free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities are provided to workers by the employer. The employer guarantees to offer employment for a minimum of ¾ ("three-fourths guarantee") of the hours in the workdays during the period of the contract, and all extensions thereof. This guarantee begins with the first workday after the worker's arrival at the place of employment and ends on the date specified on the job order or extensions thereof. Employer agrees to reimburse inbound transportation and subsistence expenses ($12.68 per day minimum to a maximum of $55.00 per day) to each worker, or any person, government agency, or private organization which, on behalf of the worker, has paid or advanced such transportation and subsistence expenses, from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment, after the worker has completed 50% of the stipulated period of employment, from initial date of need or from the day after actual arrival of worker if later than the stated date to report. Employer will provide or pay the cost of return transportation and subsistence to each worker who completes the employment period, or who is terminated for medical reasons, or as the result of fire, weather, or an Act of God (as determined by the Certifying Officer), from place of employment to place of recruitment. The amount of the transportation payment will be equal to the most economical and reasonable similar common carrier transportation charges for the distance involved. All transportation provided by the employer will be by common carrier or other transportation facilities which conform to the applicable regulations of the Interstate Commerce Commission or the United States Department of Labor. The amount of daily subsistence will be in accordance with current rates published in the Federal Register (for workers with and without receipts). Neither the ETA nor the State of Wisconsin Job Service are guarantors of the accuracy or truthfulness of the information from the employer. However, if any material misrepresentation is made by the employer, procedures of the Employment Service Complaint System at 20CFR 658, subpart F apply. Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:

Workers will perform various activities associated with growing grass and sod on our farm. The activities will be exclusively performed in an outdoor environment. The workers will aid in soil preparation, including removing rocks, roots, limbs, stumps, trees, and other debris from the fields and farm area. They will sod large areas, sow grass seed, plant plugs of sod grass, cut, roll, and stack sod in accordance with supervisor's instructions. Weed, hoe, and propagate. Water, fertilize, spray, monitor, trim, weed, load, transport, and discard sod. Irrigation set up and operation. Bag certified grass seed. Perform other activities associated with growing grass and sod in a nursery. Workers will load and unload empty pallets by hand. Housing is provided at no cost to workers who are not reasonably able to return the same day to their place of residence. Housing is not provided to non-workers. Free and convenient kitchen facilities provided at no charge. Workers will buy and prepare their own food. Free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities are provided to workers by employer. Employer agrees to offer the worker employment for a total number of work hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays of the total period beginning with the first workday after the arrival of the worker at the place of employment or the advertised contractual first date of need, whichever is later, and ending on the expiration date specified in the work contract or in its extensions, if any. If the worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period, and the employer did not directly provide such transportation or subsistence or otherwise has not yet paid the worker for such transportation or subsistence costs, the employer agrees to reimburse the worker for reasonable costs incurred by the worker for transportation and daily subsistence from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer, whether in the U.S. or abroad to the place of employment. The amount of the transportation payment must be no less (and is not required to be more) than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved. The amount the employer will pay for daily subsistence expenses are no less than $12.68 and no more than $55.00 per day with receipts.
