Thank you to the Walworth County Council on Transition (WCCOT) and the team members who organized the “Life after High School Transition Conference” on Wednesday, December 13th at Gateway Technical College, Elkhorn.
The SE WI Works Community Engagement and Business Service Team enjoyed working with over 50 students from area schools such as: Whitewater, Elkhorn, Wisconsin School for the Deaf, Lakeland School, Badger, Williams Bay, and East Troy.
In a break-out session, Amanda, our Community Engagement Specialist, presented the WIOA program to the students. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act is designed to help individuals succeed in the labor market by providing access to employment, education, training, and support services while matching employers with skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
Judy, our Business Service Representative, conducted several “mock interviews” simulating the conditions of an actual job interview allowing students to become better prepared for the situation when it counts to ultimately get on a path to a well-paying job.
All Students & Job Seekers - We encourage you to visit sewrks.com/career-seekers to learn about the WIOA program and all it has to offer. You can go to that page, click on “Get Started With WIOA”, fill out the jot form and you will be contacted by one of our Community Engagement Specialists.
